GMW and MW

Hi guys,
*TAKE NOTE: WE ARE NOT SENDING SEC 1s and 2s FOR DM SILVER, and OA and FD FUNDAMENTALS*
Gold Modular Workshop/Modular Workshop has arrived again
This time, HQ is offering 2 Workshops: First Aid Gold and Red Cross Knowledge Gold
The date of all these workshops is 23rd of August, and will be held at Fuhua Secondary School. You are required to go for the full day workshop (8.30 am to 6.00 pm) to get the badge. The pre-requisite for each Workshop is the badge that comes before it (e.g. FA Gold requires SFA (FA Silver)), but you can approach any one of your friendly NCOs to get the badges before hand for this workshop.
However, we can only send 7 per school, so priority will be given to Sec 3s and then Sec 2s then Sec 1s (sorry Sec 1s), then after that its a first-come first-serve basis already.
Reminder to Sec 2s that a Gold Badge is a pre-requisite to becoming an NCO, so better to go for one first then to miss future ones.
Please signup by tomorrow, 2 July, 2200h
Thanks!

PN 2014 :O

Hey Sec 1s and 2s,

Looking forward to PN? Hope you are, and not for all the wrong reasons ( girls ;) )

Once again, here are the details for PN this Sat, 31st May.

For dancers, please report at 9am at the Raja Block Foyer in PE attire/unit tee. All dancers have been divided into 4 groups: (Any missing names or names not supposed to be there please inform Forster or Shawn sir).

Group 1 - Alvin, Isac, Yu Cai, Daniel, Jonathan Heng, Yu Hang
Dress code - Black top, black long pants

Group 2 - Joel, Shang Wen, Ruo Bin, Melvin, Tianxiang, Jee Kuen
Dress code - Earthly-coloured top (gray, brown, green, dark red), black long pants/earthly-coloured bermudas

Group 3 - Cher Wei, Hakim, Lin Hong, Sun Han, Yijie
Dress code - Red top, black long pants/blue-black jeans

Group 4 - Selwyn, Mike, Taufeeq, Chiaw Soong, Nicholas, Ryan
Dress code - Dark cap, yellow/orange top, black long pants/blue-black jeans

*for black long pants, track pants is acceptable, but not encouraged because it's ugly*

Please bring your attire in a bag so that you can change before the actual event instead of getting it dirty during dance practice in the morning. Also, please adhere to the dress code as much as possible; you don't want to be the odd one out in your dance group during the performance. If you really cannot obtain the attire, please contact either Shawn (90116564 ;)) or Forster sir (81017890)

To sum up the day's events, you guys will be learning and practicing a dance taught to you by very very friendly VIs together with cadets from another school (the schools joining us are either GIRL SCHOOLS or MIXED SCHOOLS WOW now this is getting way more exciting) till dinner (determined by your dance progress and your dance instructors), after which the actual show begins at 7pm at the Multi-Purpose Hall in Yr5-6 side. Please put in effort into your dance and do RIRC proud! For those coming late (ie after 9am), once again, please call either Shawn or Forster sir and they will give you further instructions from there.

EDIT: Please submit your excuses for PN if you cannot attend, during camp, or your promotion will be compromised. Do note that this is a COMPULSORY event.

That's all, have fun! For the last time, BRING IT ON!

Inter-platoon competition!!! (It's back!)

Hi Sec 1s and 2s, as most of you have probably realised, there is a lot of emphasis on nurturing the platoon spirit between the Sec 1s and 2s in the same platoon. Thus, we have come up with a challenge for the platoons to compete with each other to earn points on this very blog. First to correctly answer the question will win 10 platoon points. There is also another 10 platoon points up for grabs for the most comprehensive answer. The question for this post is: 'What is the difference between heat exhaustion and heat stroke? Compare the two on the basis of the different symptoms. Also include the treatment for both of the injuries in your answer.' Good luck and may the best platoon win! XOXO

Aloysius - Batch 63 :)

P.S. results after Wednesday, 2 April would not be considered. Thanks! XD

First Aid trainings

Hi guys,
As Saha has mentioned during training today, First Aid trainings will be conducted during most Fridays. Many of you might be wondering what these trainings are for. Basically, these First Aid trainings, formerly known as FAC trainings, are for you guys (sec 1s to sec 3s) to improve your First Aid. We have realised that there is no point holding compulsory First Aid trainings because many of you might skip it anyway.

As such, these First Aid trainings are purely optional.

We will also be releasing the content syllabus for the next few trainings. This is for you guys to see which part of First Aid you might want to improve yourself on. For example, if you feel that you want to improve your First Aid skills specifically on tying the head bandage, then you can look out for that particular training which will train head bandage. However, because you can choose when to come, we require you guys to register using the form (the link is on the blog) so that we are able to plan the manpower to train you guys.

These First Aid trainings will be really useful for you guys as there will be one-to-one guidance where the trainer or instructor can help you personally and give feedback on the spot. First Aid is an important part of Red Cross and also the Leadership Programme which you will be going through when you are Year 3. As such, we hope that you will come down for these trainings (but remember to sign up).

See you on Friday :)

Admin + FACOM :D

Good morning one and all! though you really shouldn't be awake at this hour, Admin has some stuff for y'all to read when you're awake!

1) Updated contact list has been added! Link should lead you to Dropbox file with title including "2014_v1_20Jan".
2) We need volunteers! The FACOM hteam have been training very hard during and outside training, and now for the preliminary round we need casualties! Only requirement is that you have to be under 45kg to sign up. We need at least 3 casualties.
3) On behalf of FACOM team, I'd like to ask for interested cadets to join the FACOM Awareness Category. Do comment below or email me and Kim sirs if you are interested to join!

This year's competition theme is "Everyone a First Aider", and the Awareness team has a maximum of 6 members. Preliminary and final rounds will be held on 1st and 15th March respectively, both Saturdays, on the same dates as that of the scenario component. For the Awareness category, teams have to design a game booth based on the theme with a budget of $100, so it's definitely a good experience i you're willing to try.

Thanks, and I sincerely hope those who are interested approach us!
