The Annual Red Cross Youth Challenge (RCYC)
camp is here once again.
This year’s RCYC – The Red Race (Youth on the
Move) emphasizes on the importance of being a leader with a heart to serve the
community. Aligning with Values-in-Action (VIA), we hope to inculcate values in
our Youth Leaders through the theme Ready,
Render and Reflect and,
to engage, enable and empower them through the series of activities which the
participants will be exposed to during the camp.
The Red Race aspires to build an active
network for youths to promote and portray the collective spirit of graciousness
and care. It will provide a platform and support the youths’ compassion for
community. Youths will also be acquainted to real challenges and needs at the
community level throughout the camp.
Aims and Objectives of RCYC 2014
Ì To promote service, resilience and
teamwork amongst participants
Ì To inspire Youths to be The Catalyst For
Change
Ì To promote interaction and foster friendships
among youths from different backgrounds, and to provide our student leaders to
have an international outlook.
Ì To allow participants to challenge
themselves beyond their limits
Ì To create opportunities for experiential
learning and leadership development
Ì To imbue Youths with the spirit of
compassion, care, volunteerism
Ì To launch Community Led Action for Resilience
– Elderly (CLARE)
Ì To establish the Red Cross Club
Delegates from the National Societies
within the Asia Pacific region will be invited to participate in this
Challenge. These delegates will team up with your cadets to travel across
several destinations in Singapore where they will partake in a series of survival-skill
challenges and discoveries.
During the Cultural Night, they will be
able to better appreciate and understand the cultural differences of other
National Societies through exhibitions and performances. The camp will reach
its climax during the Campfire, when all the campers will have a good time with
songs, dance and cheers. Parents will also be invited down to join in the fun
during the Campfire.
In
line with the objectives to foster a spirit of compassion and care amongst the
community, for the community, SRC will also be launching the Community Led Action for Resilience –
