Evac bronze reaccreds

Hey all,
This post is directed only to the following cadets:
Yue Howe
Jian Xing
Hethav
Vijay
Vikaesh
Rayner
Yi Cheng
Daniel
Nirmeet
Brendon
Jeremiah
Alfonse

Note that all of you stated above will have to retake the entire evacuation bronze accreds, regardless of whether you have passed just a portion of the accreds last year or not.
The accreds will be held on week 6 friday, from 1.30pm after school to 3.30pm (tentatively). Those who cannot make it please inform the sec 4s in one way or another (email, phone, face to face).
For those who are sure you have passed a portion of the accreds, don't be disheartened. Just treat the test as a refresher and if you have been paying attention for the evac lessons, you should have no problem.
Best of luck!

Clarifications

Hi all,

there is no meeting tomorrow, contrary to the previous post. Sorry for the confusion!

Welcome

To all cadets of RIRC,

Hope it’s not too late to wish all of you a very Happy 2011 and welcome back to school!

2011 will be yet another exciting year for all of us with different levels going through different experiences. I hope the sec 2s are getting more familiar with school and more matured especially in knowing what’s out there, how the next few years of life in school will unfold. I hope you will guide the new cadets coming in soon and be good examples to them, along with the rest of the seniors. As for the sec 3s, I hope you will have (or had, depending on when you read this post) a good time in OBS and get to know your new classmates better. It will be a different workload this year with so many more responsibilities and new leadership opportunities to try. As for the sec 4s, this is the year to make every day count before embarking on a new world in year 5-6. This is also the year you become ‘full-pledged’ leaders and shall be guiding the sec 3s to be even better leaders of the future. You need to work hard together sharing the same vision, bringing RIRC to greater heights and doing everything for the unit, not just for your own gain. As mentioned during Principal’s assembly, nobody is the center of the universe. We are all a part of something bigger. We have to work together and always have others in mind.

My wish this year is that everyone plays their part, and to be responsible. I cannot expect all the cadets in RIRC to be an A star cadet meaning, to never miss a single training the whole year, join all competitions, to achieve the highest of ranks, to participate in NDP, SYF, to volunteer in anything and everything or to do so many things. Of course, that will be ideal but really, just the basic responsibility of being a cadet in the unit. Think about it. What is this basic responsibility? I would like to hear your responses soon when we meet.

This Wednesday will be our first meet-up but without the sec 1s and 3s. After that we have the Raffles Trail on Friday, 7th March from 2-530pm and training to resume next Monday onwards.

Looking forward to a good 2011 with all of you. The best of luck! J

Regards,

Ms Ruhana

A Whole New Year

Hi all,

Wondering if any of you guys actually look forward to next year.

Year 3s you're gonna have new classmates and all, and it will be a whole new learning experience for you in LP (in case you dunno, its Leadership Programme). Not trying to scare you guys, but things are gonna become really hectic, more workload, more subjects, more responsibility, whether during training or not. Before they sky comes crashing down on you, please enjoy the rest of the hols and rest well. Enjoy the time you have in OBS too :)

Year 2s, although you will still be in the same class, it is now you responsibility to look of the NEW batch of Year 1s coming in your platoons. New faces, new platoon members, new challenges. I hope you look forward to these new leadership opportunities.

3 more hours to a new year, 3 more days a new school term, 3 more months a new March holidays. Treasure the present and embrace the future

Happy New Year to all :P

Newspaper Collection

Hi guys,

We collected 1,880kg of newspaper on Saturday and raised $376. The money will be donated to the 3 platoon CIP VWOs, and also the Nature Society (Singapore), since this is a form of recycling and hence some money will go to an environmental organisation.

Good job everyone!

My Sec 1 Life in RIRC

I can still remember my sec 1 life in RIRC.

Life was harsh back then. It was really regimental, we were punished quite a lot.

I still could remember the 1st day of Red Cross training. We had an FD lesson, which ended up in us owing more than 100 push-ups. That was because we did not move the chairs to the sides fast enough. We had to do 50 push-ups each training, and that was our first few trainings. No such thing as an orientation for our batch.

Back then, we were also punished for not bringing our platoon flag. For those who did not know, we had to bring our platoon flag every training. Also, when a person fidgeted, our whole batch usually had to knock it down. I admit that I was always very scared of punishments, and was very scared of trainings back then.

So guys, I hope you guys can cherish the new fun activities and trainings, not those boring, regimental ones. Batch 58 and 59 have both put in tremendous amount of efforts to make trainings better for you guys. I hope you will be grateful to them, and return back the favor by having a good attitude, and being committed to RIRC.
