Clarifications

Hi all,

It seems that some of you are still unsure of the new protocols.
If you attended school, but you are not coming for training, you need to inform the EXCO members by calling them or meeting them face to face. (John, You Sheng, Joel, Jia Wei or Sheng Yang) Do not use the tagboard or emails as a means of informing us about your attendance
If you are unsure, better check with your batchmates/platoonmates or platoon mentors.
----------
Take note:
As next Wednesday is Learning Journey Day (6th May), there will be no CCA.
As for muster parade, it is pushed to the following week (13th May).
----------
That's all for now...more stuff may come soon.
So stay tuned!
It's safe to come more (Note: This blog is swine flu-free)

150th Anniversary

Hi All,

This year, we celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the Battle of Solferino. (together with 90th Anniversary of the founding of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC) and the 60th Anniversary of the Geneva Conventions.)

Do look at the post called "Our Wolrd, Your Move" on the Editorial Blog to find out more. Widen your knowledge about the Red Cross Movement via that blogpost. We assure you that what you find there will be enriching and very worthwhile.

Sec2 FA - Updates

Well it seems like most of you don’t want to do the work in the elearning - that’s ok, but do at least look through the slides by Monday. Also, if you do decide to do the task that was set in the elearning, you could earn some points for your platoon but either way it’s still a pretty good form of revision.

Also, I’ll be having another optional session on Thursday to go through everything that was in the slides as well as to revise more on your bandaging as well as treatment for fractures.

Details are as follows:
Thursday 30 May
1400 - 1600
Meet outside sickbay

Bring your bandages!

Campfire Performance

Hi Everyone

Please note that June Camp will be from 2-4 June (Tue-Thurs). So please arrange your holidays and overseas trips to be after the first week of the June Holidays to avoid these dates.

There will be a campfire during the upcoming June Camp, held in the hall. (the concept is the same, but there will not be a bonfire). There will be a lot of guests coming, especially from other schools, so lets put up a good show for all of them and have fun ourselves.

Every batch (including the sec 4s) will be putting up a performance, so please get them prepared.

Sec 1s:
Theme: Zombies and Ghost Busters (Japanese Style)
Performance should be at least 4 minutes long
Your performance will be in a form of a story (no skit allowed, more towards dance). Split yourselves into 2 groups, Group Zombies and Ghost Busters.
Story: A group of nomads in a haunted house tried to challenge the ghosts of the mansion. The ghost summoned zombies who launched an attack on the nomads. The nomads called the ghost busters, which came in just as the zombies were winning, and destroyed them all. They then tried to kill of the ghosts, but failed miserably, and left.

Your dance will start of wif zombies appearing and doing some dance moves showcasing how powerful they are, and act cool. (about 1.5 minutes). Then, the ghost buster group will come in and the battle between the 2 begins (2.5 minutes). Ghost buster must win, but the dance must end off with them losing to the ghosts. Be creative and adjust the ghost busters and zombies to make them have a Japanese Style on their costumes.

You don't have to include the ghosts and the nomads in your dance, as these people will be acted out by sec 4s, so just plan the dance for the 2 groups mentioned above. Choose your own songs, combine songs if you like, Create your own costumes (Do not spend so much!) and ensure that your whole batch is involved the performance in one way or another. Refer to the Platoon Mentors should you need any help, or your sec 2s and 3s. They have experience in this (especially Omega..their performance last year was excellent)

Remember, the performance does not have to be a dance all the way, be creative and entertain the guests wisely!

Sec 2s:
Theme: Ninja
Performance should be at least 4 minutes long
Your performance will be in the form of a dance (like the sec 1s, you can add extra stuff inside, but the main focus are entertainment and dance) showcasing how a group of Ninjas ambushed the nomads who are trying to break into a locked door.

You are allowed to appear from the audience and make your way to the stage to begin your dance. Use your creative minds to do anything that makes your performance unique, and end your performance with someone saying this line:
"You do not possess the strength of the Ninja. Leave now or die in our hands"

Ideas: shurikens, bamboos, jutsus, Naruto, etc

Again, create your own costumes, choose and mix your own songs and involve the whole batch in this performance, but do not spend so much. Refer to the Platoon Mentors should you need any help.

On Monday, more details will be given, and an IC will be chosen from each batch to update us with your progress with the performances. Start brainstorming!

Note: Due to this, There will be no PWC for Week 6 (next week)

PWC3

Hi everyone,

We have already received 2 emails for 3A (Sec 1s PWC), namely Kishore and Ryan. However, both emails are not accepted:
Kishore sent the 4 answers, but answer 4 is wrong. And he did not attach his photo.
Ryan did not send the 4 answers and attach his photo.

We would like to remind you once again to read 3A carefully and send to us with everything that is requested by the challenge. Emails which do not have the things requested will be voided.

For PWC3B (Magic Trick), its for both sec 1s and 2s. Read the instructions carefully, especially this one: Now how do you hold one end of the rope and get a Horizontal position?

You will have to think out of the box. Photoshop is one answer, but we will not accept it, because we want a photo of the real YOU doing the "trick". Be smart and creative. Find loopholes in the question and do your magic!

All the Best!

Sec2 FA - Extra Sessions

In light of the fact that you guys will be taking your SFA in the June Holidays [i.e. in less than 2 months’ time], we will be conducting several extra sessions for those of you who:

a. have been missing the past few trainings
b. feel that your skills are not up to scratch
c. think that you need more practice
d. are just bored and have nothing better to do.

These sessions are strictly optional - you don’t have to go for them if you don’t want to. However, they are good practice so if you feel that you need the extra help do try to go down.

The sessions for Week 5 are as follows:

Monday [20th April]
1815 - 1845 [immediately after training]
meet at the JB atrium

Thursday [23rd April]
1400 - 1530
meet at the sickbay

Content to be covered:
Bandaging [all - a full list of what you should know can be found below]
Types and Treatment of Fractures
15 Checkpoints

List of Bandages
Swathes/Pressure Pad/Bandage
Arm Sling
Elevation Sling
Scalp
Neck
Chest
Knee
Ringpad
Figure-of-8

Martin.

N.B. Bring your bandages for these sessions [especially the one on Thursday].

Postponement of Accreditations

To all Sec 2s taking the FD Silver Accreditations this week (all except Naowed, Qi Wei, Shadman and Nicholas), take note that the FD Silver Accreds had been postponed to Wednesday. Thus, you do not need to report in RC Uniform on Monday, but in PE attire.

Report in your RC Uniform on Wednesday, bringing PE attire is optional. Your platoon mentors will be calling to inform you all about the above changes, however if by any case, you had not been contacted, please do inform your fellow batchmates.

Also, if any of you are interested to take the optional RI paper, please inform Joel on the day of the accreditations (i.e. Wednesday).

RI Paper for Accreditations

Hi All,

Accreditations are held next week. We have decided to add in a little fun into the accreds you are taking. For both FD Silver and RCV Bronze accreds, we have an optional RI Paper for you.

FD Silver [Sec 2s]
The RI Paper will be an open-ended Theory Paper. If you manage to score above 85%, points will be awarded for your platoon. Top scorer will be given point as well [This will be voided if the top scorer scores below 70%]

RCV Bronze [Sec 1s]
The RI Paper will be an essay question. Maximum score is 10. We will total up the scores from a platoon and that will be the number of points awarded to that platoon. (More people particpating, higher chances of winning points)

If you wish to take it, please inform the Sec 4 in charge on that day itself and you will be allowed to sit for the paper. All the best!

Ponners

Hi Everyone,

As mentioned, we are taking very seriously regarding those who skip training without informing any of the EXCO members beforehand (via calling or meeting face to face)

These are the people who have skipped training on Wednesday, 14 April:
Sec 1s: Chong Ching, Qi Jing
Sec 2s: Zhi Jie (Third Time), Naowed

Zhi Jie, this is your third time skipping training. You are to meet either John or You Sheng face to face to give a proper explanation for your absence from training for 3 times in a row. You are to meet them by 20 April, 6pm. Please note that if you fail to do so, you will not be promoted this year, and you will have to meet the teachers about your attendance problem. If you continue to skip training, you will face the risk of demotion, back to your private rank. If you have any problems, use this time given to explain to John or You Sheng.

To everyone else, please be reminded that you are to meet any of the EXCO members if you are not able to come for training on that day, unless you did not even attend school on that day.

Do stop by if you want to be better prepared for the accreds. What we hope to see is that all of you pass the accreditations and get promoted.

The FD Silver accreditations will also include a section on commanding, and the command list will be given in english, so make sure your theory is strong.

Additionally, if you want to ask any questions, you can look for either Joel or Clive.

For Sec 1s, any questions can be referred to John or Shao Tong.

Sickbay Duty

Trainings
Monday, 13 April, 3.30pm
Wednesday ,15 April, 3.30pm

Usual days, usual time, usual place.
=)

------------------------------

Sickbay Duty
For the Sec 1s, no worries.
For the Sec 2s, a lot of worries.

For the past term, we've noticed people attending duties (kudos to these people!).
Yet, we've noticed some being irresponsible and not attending any.
Sickbay Superintendents (SBS) Xin Yan and Sheng Wei have kindly drawn up a duty list for you guys, so i hope you guys won't let their hardwork go to waste.
If any of you have problems with the duty list, look for either one of the SBS.

From now on, anybody who cannot attend any sickbay duties MUST:
1.) Call up any Exco Members to tell them (Strictly no smsing/emailing/relayed message)
2.) Provide an excuse letter/MC

Those who do not do so will have their promotions (badly) affected...
After all, since it's without valid excuses...isn't it ponning, or in other words, showing irresponsibility?

However, on the lighter note...
for those who come, free 5 points to their platoon! (5 points per individual)
*Yay*

----------------------------------------------

Attendance
This is a gentle reminder...
If you cannot attend for some particular reason, please look for a Sec 4 Exco member to tell him personally.
DO NOT rush off yourself, or else...(refer to 1 of the previous post)

------------------------------------------------

PWC!
Phoenix Weekly Challenge.
Remember the deadline for PWC #1...
Oh, do check up PWC #2
=)

--------------------------------
Alright that's all, people don't fall sick ah.
Enjoy mugging for tests if any!

Attendance

Hey guys,

Remember that we mentioned all about the attendance system before?
It is also stated in the previous post.

Today, some of you guys didn't turn up, AND didn't report first before going off.
Sec 1s: P. Kishore
Sec 2s: Soe Lwin, Naowed, Shadman, Qiwei

Take note, anybody who doesn't report first before going off TWICE in a row, will receive the following 'treats':
1. No badges/promotions for you
2. RC Teacher will be looking for you

Therefore, all of you (we assume that you guys know all about this website now) are now aware of this, and you can't say you don't.
For those who aren't here today, as batchmates/platoon mates, please spread this message to them (via calling, email, talk personally...etc.)

------------------------------------------

Comments regarding today...
We can see that most of the Sec 2s are good role models...
sitting up straight without us telling you guys to, no dragging etc.
Hope you guys keep it up =)
As Sec 2s...learn to show more initiative now...for example, controlling the noises Sec 1s and Sec 2s make.

For Sec 1s, not bad, you guys learn fast.
But we hope you remember what had been told to you guys today.

-----------
Ok that's all, drink lots of water (hot weather nowadays).
Don't fall sick!
Bye~

Matters.

Hi people,

Many things have happened ever since we stopped posting on the website (temporarily).
Right?
Haha, especially to those involved (eg. competitors), i'm quite sure those times were sweet memories =)

Anyway, late update.
Training tomorrow (Monday 6th April) 3.30pm.
Same goes to Wednesday 8th April.
I'm quite sure everybody knows this.
However, please make sure that those who are not coming for training do report first, and tell us reasons.
(By reporting, we mean just coming forward to talk to any Secondary 4s)
A reminder:
Running off twice without reporting first will result in 0 attendance, plus a teacher knocking on your front door.

Please help spread this website's URL among your RIRC mates.
Further updates will be posted here.
And remember, the tagboard here is not for random tags.
State your real name and tag only with questions...
You can have fun tagging on the other blog (go look at the links!)

Pheonix Weekly Challenge will be up soon!
Stay tune!

Saturday, April 4, 2009

Hi Everyone

As of now, new updates will be placed on this blog. The RIRC website will however still active, with the new implementation of the Weekly Phoenix Challenge from 6 April onwards. So continue checking both this blog and the website.

Cheers!
