Camp Performance

Hi all

Be reminded that camp is 2-4 June, (Tue to Thur), from 8am on 1st day to 1pm on 3rd day. Meet at the Clocktower. Those who have SMO, you MUST still report at 8am with your camp bags. You will be released at 9am for SMO and are to gather back at the atrium by 12pm.

Please remember to bring to camp your props and costumes for your dances. Remember to keep them simple, but not too simple till it doesn't look like a costume at all. There will be a final vetting during camp, so please ensure that you guys practice before coming to camp. You are putting up a show to a LOT of people.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask via the tagboard.

IPC Evac FA

Hi all, below is the format and details for the upcoming IPCFAEVAC. This inter-platoon competition consists of 3 rounds, with all being practical/scenario rounds.

For Round 1 and 2, the focus is on the method of tying, but you still need to know the practical usage.

Below is the list of bandages that may appear during the competition for these 2 rounds:
Scalp Bandage
Arm Sling
2 Eye Bandage
Elevation Sling
Chest Bandage
Pressure Bandage
Open Palm
Neck Bandage
Jaw Bandage
Knee Bandage
Swathes (immobolisation)

Round 3 is in a scenario format, where you will start at the First Aid base before proceeding to Ground Zero.. At Ground Zero you will have to treat 3 casualties, then selecting 2 casualties with more severe injuries and evacuate them back to base. If there is still time after treating and evacuating the other 2 casualties, you can return to Ground Zero and evacuate the last casualty back to base. You will be given 30 minutes for this round. The location of Ground Zero will be revealed on the day itself.

Also, for this round, each casualty has 2 injuries, consisting of the following types:
bleeding
burns
fracture
environmental type of injuries (e.g. Head stroke, heat exhaustion, hypothermia etc.)

The evacuation route is quite long, so teamwork and coordination are very important.

Next up would be how you would be graded for the different components.

For first aid, you will be graded based on the following aspects:
Organisation
Teamwork
Sense of Urgency
Reassuring
Knowledge
Bandaging
Overall impression

For evacuation, you will be graded on the following aspects:
Organisation
Teamwork
Sense of Urgency
Knowledge
Execution
Overall impression

Since we have told you guys about the format, train hard and good luck for the competition! Most importantly, have fun!

Inter-Platoon First Aid/Evacuation Competition

Hi guys! As mentioned before, there will be an Inter-platoon first aid/evacuation held this term.

Date: Term 2 Week 9 Monday (18th May 2009)
Time: During training
What to bring: 2 bandages per person

This inter-platoon competition will have a large amount of points to earn, totalling up to a maximum of 300 and a possible bonus 30.
However, since this is a inter-platoon competition, individual proficiency in first aid and evacuation alone would not win the inter-platoon competition for your platoon.
The attendance of the platoon would be taken into account.
The attendance of each platoon would be expressed as a percentage, and the final amount of points a platoon would obtain is determined by multiplying this percentage with the platoon’s raw score from the various activities.

For example, Platoon A has 10 people and 8 people turned up for the inter-platoon competition and would thus have an 80% attendance rate.
During the competition, they earned 250 points.
Thus, the total amount of platoon points Platoon A would earn from the inter-platoon competition would be as follows:
250 x 80%/100% = 200
Platoon A would then earn 200 platoon points from this inter-platoon competition.

This is a good opportunity for any platoon to widen the gap or catch up with the platoons, so do prepare well for the inter-platoon competition.

On a side note, the higher the placing you get from the inter-platoon competition, the bigger a present you get! (no it has nothing to do with the platoon points)

Hougang Sec Campfire (More details)

With regards to Hougang Secondary Campfire, here are some points to take note of:

1.) It will be on the night just before our own camp. So if you're going, be prepared earlier, not on that day itself.

2.) (For Sec 2s only) Those who are going will get 10 points for their platoon. However, we are not forcing you to go. Go if you want to experience for yourself how a campfire organised by other schools will be like. Go expand your social circle XD Otherwise, you can choose to go for platoon points.

3.) There is a free buffet there! =D

4.) So far, only Hadi, Deodatus, Hui Jun and Clive are going. So for those interested in joining them, 'sign up'!

5.) More information (eg. your attire/performance to create) are posted earlier, so scroll down to read.

Interested people please inform You Sheng by this Wednesday 1900h latest.

Thanks.
