B61's New Mission & Vision

Hi All
Some of you might be curious or have been wondering about our new unit direction and focus under B61---after all it's a new start and hence a new beginning. We thus bring you this official update to provide everyone with a succinct and relevant explanation of B61's new initiatives and direction:
Mission & Vision
(Vision)--"to instill a sense of identity within cadets for the RIRC community, and to also build up their social relationships and sense of responsibility"
Firstly, our Unit vision---we seek to instill a greater sense of responsibility and identity within all of you for yourselves, your platoon, your Unit. We want all of you to not only feel a sense of familiarity and placing within your few short years in the Unit, but to actually help you to build up and foster your friendships and relationships with the RIRC community. That, we believe, is the more enduring and valuable benefit a cadet can derive in his time in the Unit, and with them we strongly believe that you will have a far more meaningful and memorable time in your cadet years. Have faith and trust your batchmates, your seniors and your juniors---they will be the people you will be interacting with for the next few years or so, and we hope beyond that. As a UG, we will also place a greater emphasis on your leadership and social skills, as we believe in their importance in supporting and helping you through your lives.

(Mission)--"to build up cadet proficiency and competence in the core areas of FA, FD and Evacuation, such as to build up our Unit's ethos of excellence"
As cadets of RIRC you have a responsibility and calling to uphold our reputation and capability to attain excellence---hence we will actively seek to build up cadet proficiency and competence under our leadership as we note that there has been lately a decline in standards of cadets' proficiency in certain subject. Additionally, we will seek to concentrate our efforts in attaining results in competitions---they ultimately serve as the true barometers of our Unit's proficiency and dedication to our cause, so we will take competition participation and involvement very seriously.
Due to the syllabus change about to be implemented by HQ (the details are still not yet finalized however) certain subjects will be sidelined (i.e FD, OA etc.) and instead a greater emphasis will be played on subjects or aspects like FA, Evacuation as well as Community Service. A new ethos and paradigm shift in HQ has necessitated the above changes, whereby the RCY movement will transition towards more active community service and involvement rather than disaster management capabilities (i.e evacuation). However, we will still uphold the core tenets of our Unit, which exists in the special capacities as a Red Cross unit and also a UG, namely: FA, Evac and FD. We believe that these subjects are an inseparable and unique aspect of every RIRC cadet, and we will thus similarly treat them as such.
Lastly, you guys have been briefed on our new focus on the platoon system---we hope you guys will take this opportunity to engage better with your fellow cadets, and build up better relationships with them, so that your time in RIRC will be a more meaningful one. And of course, to get more platoon points :) (Good job Iota--you'll get your reward on Wednesday)

Thanks and Have a Nice Day ! :)
