World Red Cross Day!

Hi guys!

Just in case you guys didn't know (or notice), World Red Cross Day was on 8th May, but you guys were having your MYCTs and the like then. Hence, we will be having an internal celebration (similar to what NPCC did today) tomorrow morning, and we will be reciting the RC promise (if you don't know look it up lol), so do make sure all of y'all recite along with us.

Just some info: WRCD is to commemorate the founding of the International Red Cross, and it's date 8 May, coincides with the founder, Jean Henri Dunant's, birthday. Now I'm sure y'all would have learnt about it for RCK, but we wouldn't be here without his contributions and the small initial idea of creating a neutral organisation to wounded soldiers. So if you're planning to emulate some famous guy in the future, don't emulate people like Albert Einstein, emulate Jean Henri Dunant! :D What can be better than being credited with founding an organisation that has since saved hundreds of thousands of lives.

Here's a video regarding the founding of Red Cross, starring Jean Henri Dunant in it: (Watch it to the end, there are english subtitles throughout)

With that, do reflect on our CCA, RIRC, and be aware that it is part of whole much bigger movement, dedicated to helping the sick and the suffering :D

Signing off,
Your Chairperson, Kai Yen

P.S. Dunant received the first ever Nobel Peace Prize in 1901. This was the speech dedicated to him:
"There is no man who more deserves this honour, for it was you, forty years ago, who set on foot the international organization for the relief of the wounded on the battlefield. Without you, the Red Cross, the supreme humanitarian achievement of the nineteenth century would probably have never been undertaken."
