The third Geneva convention, which was signed in 1929, was the protection of the POWs (prisoners of war). This includes: 1) Arranging for their free maintenance, accomodation, food and clothing, medical care 2) Allowing to send or receive family messages and to speak in private with ICRC delegates 3) Being protected all the time against violence, intimidation, insults and public curiosity.
